The Scandinavian house is the inspired by rural Scandinavian countries architecture with wooden facades and vivid colors. I always found this type of the hill houses had kinda romantic attractiveness to me. They are representing warm shelter from the wilderness and the bitter cold weather of the south.
The aim was to achieve that atmosphere of the Scandinavian weather conditions with overuse of age and roughness of the materials.
The roof with the moss on the top was very inspiring to do. Working with Substance painter it was easy to do it. For tiles I downloaded texture from internet and made height map in photoshop. The moss was procedurally generated as one layer over roof tiles functioning with the baked normal, ambient occlusion and curvature maps.
- 3ds Max for modeling
- Substance Painter for texturing
- Photoshop for custom masks
